So as I did with my pregnancy, I wanted to write a new blog letting you all know the baby gear that's made my life so much easier having a new born. Let me preface this by stating that not all babies are the same and not all babies like the same things. However many of the items I purchased were recommended by other mommy friends via word of mouth or other blogs and they've worked well for me too. So since several women have had the same results I figured it's time to share my own "list".
Sleeping:
Miracle Blanket: best.swaddle.ever.
Rock N Play Sleeper (after knowing at least 5 other kids who only slept in this thing for the first few months I gave it a try. Allie doesnt really sleep through the night anywhere else). Dont Spent more than 53.00 on this item. You can get it at Target for at least that price.
The First Years Sound Machine that plays womb sounds and classical music. Some of the white noise options are just obnoxious but there are 2 womb sound options that we love as well as the classical music. There are nicer ones out there but this one is cheap at Target and does the trick!
Fleece Halo Sleep Sack (We put it over the Miracle Blanket for cold nights)
Carters Receiving blankets
WubbaNub Soothie Pacifier Holder and of course the Soothie paci (this thing save sleep when you have a child that cant hold on to her paci)
Nursing:
Medella Freestyle Breast Pump (worth every penny)
Earth Mama Angel Baby Nipple Butter Way better than Lanolin IMO
The Womanly Art of Breast Feeding
Udder Cover Nursing Cover (I want 3 more of these too. Just look up the coupon for these online (Family2010 usually works) and you only have to pay 10 dollars of Shipping. Just dont fall in to the trap of anything else they offer for "free". Everything else on the site sucks).
My Brest Friend nursing pillow. I personally like nursing with this better than the Boppy (I use it more for her to sit in, have tummy time in and to hold her for long stretches sitting down). However I honestly nurse without a pillow 95% of the time.
Breast Flow bottles and Doctor Browns
Lansinoh milk storage bags
Medela or Johnson and Johnsons nursing pads
This Motherhood Maternity Nude Nursing Bra
Motherhood Maternity and Target Nursing tanks
Anything with a low cut Vneck that I can easily pull down
Tons and tons of bibs and burp cloths
Camelbak Water Bladder: hang this where ever you nurse often (bed, glider, couch, etc). I am always in a hurry to get my boob out for baby and never think to go grab a water for myself first. The Camelback holds a ton of water so I have plenty to drink at each feeding and due to the straw like tube I dont even need a hand to hold it!
Changing:
Disposable Puppy Pads
Circo Bassinet pads
Diaper Rash ointment (I like California Baby and Grandma Els but regular Vaseline works fine too)
Lots of pump hand sanitizer around the house
Travel:
Timi and Leslies Hannah diaper bag. This was my "push" present so its a bit pricy but I LOVE that its a beautiful and super functional and large diaper bag that looks like a purse. I always have a ton of stuff in it but it stays super organized due to the fabulous compartments.
The First Years diaper pad changer. I like this a ton better than the pads that come with diaper bags. Its your large pad that also holds several diapers, wipes, and your ointment so its easy access when changing.
The Bumbleride Indie Stroller. What I like: super smooth, no attachments needed to hold infant carseat, fits from new born to 5+ years old, HUGE canopy (can completely cover kid). Super versitile and built for warm or cool weather. Super easy to fold and unfold. Relatively light weight and easy to pick up (still need two hands to put in car though). Super compact for an all terrain. Great for off roading or the mall. TONS of storage space. Super easy to maneuver one handed. Can use for long walks and light running. Front wheel locks or can swivel. What I dont like: nothing. I love this stroller!
Chicco Keyfit 30infant carseat. Love it! Ive definitely needed the ability to just take the whole seat on a daily basis so Im glad we went with an infant seat instead of convertable.
Moby Wrap. Allie loves it and this thing is a life saver when I really need to get something done and need both hands.
WubbaNub Paci Holder: Allie loves it and its saving me from popping a paci back in at every stoplight
Health and Wellness:
Wellements Gripe Water: gets rid of hiccups instantly and works wonders for gassy babies as well! We use it almost daily for hiccups.
Tri Vi SolInfant Vitamin Supplements (breast fed babies dont get enough vit D)
California Baby Calendula Shampoo/Body wash and Calendula Cream. I SWEAR by this stuff! Calendula is awesome and has kept us away from cradle cap and cleared up her baby acne very quickly. Also works wonders on all other little skin imperfections. Calendula cream also completely cleared my neighbor babies eczema after months of painfully dry skin.
Little Noses Sailine Spray better at getting boogers out than any nasal aspirator. Also helps keep sinuses clear and infection free.
Culturellefor Kids Probiotics: great to help Allies little digestive tract stay healthy. Makes a big difference if shes been gassy for a few days especially.
Toys/ activity:
Baby Einsteins music toy
Mo the Monkey
Infantino Stroller jinggle toys
Snuggabunny Swing
Boppy for Tummy Time and to sit in
Fisherprice Musical Seahorse
I think that pretty much covers it for now! Who knew one little kid would need so much stuff!
