5 Month Photo
Weight: 14.4 Lbs
Height: Unknown for this month
Head Circumference: Unknown
Clothes: Definitely 3-6 comfortably. Some smaller 6-9 stuff is a bit baggy but fits
Diapers: Moved up to Size 3's right at 5 months in disposables and we can probably go up a rise on her cloth diaper but havent yet.
Milestones:
You're getting so big!
First time rolling back to front and first time rolling to be mobile and get to something you want. It's so cute! You just roll and roll till you get to where you want to go. Who needs crawling?? I also cant put you down for a second without you being in a totally different spot than where I put you.

Starting to Sit up!
Youre getting more independent. You cant stand to be carried around facing inward. You MUST be facing out towards the world.
You LOVE dogs! Dozer and Nana and Papa's doggie Mr Butters. You light up when you see them!
First time swimming! I took you to a pool play group for your first time swimming and you loved it! You just smiled and cooed and reclined in your float. Total water girl! You did really well and went home and took an awesome nap that day.
You HATE facial hair and cry every time it touches your face. But you seem to prefer men to women. (Im not ready for this!)
First time in the pool
First trip to the Children's Museum! We went with our play group to Tuscaloosa to visit the Children's Museum there. IT WAS AMAZING! I only wish you were older. I cant wait to take you back next year when you can walk and explore. But even you being so little you really loved it. They even had a little tummy time area with mirrors and colors and shapes just for your age group. It made me wish I was 8 years old again. You were so good the whole trip.
Youve started repeating sounds and say mamamama and nananana and HI often, but you dont know what youre saying really. But I think this means you might be on your way to an early talker!
Cute Things You Do:
Youve started doing this thing where you try REALLY hard to buzz your lips (Papa taught you) It's so cute. You slobber EVERYWHERE and blow bubbles but you think its fun.
You also breath really fast and loud out of your mouth when you get excited or irritated. Nana taught you this one haha. You picked up on it so fast and now you love doing it!
Everyonce in a while you throw a tantrum when I take something away from you that you wanted to put in your mouth. This usually only happens when youre tired though.
You like to pull faces in to your mouth. It's so sweet but I think youre doing it because you think you might get some milk out of a nose or chin if you suck hard enough lol. I dont mind your slobbery smooches though.

Papa is clearly your favorite person to look at. All he has to do is walk in to the room and you light up like a firecracker! (I think he's pretty goofy looking too ;-)
Your Sophie and crinkle books are still must haves but youve also found a new love for the ball hanging on your activity mat.
You are mezmorized by the outdoors. Anytime your pitching a fit, even if your tired all I have to do to calm you quickly is walk outside. You love the colors of the earth.
Your bath is probably your favorite time of the day and you get fussy if I dont sing Splish Splash at LEAST once.
In Other News:
This month youre sleeping habits have gotten slightly better. You dont fight sleep nearly as much as you did last month (thank God), but it is still a bit of an effort sometimes. You still wake up a good bit but when exactly you plan to wake seems different every night. Your naps arent really consistent yet either. Some days youll take three two hour naps and stay awake and happy the rest of the day. Other days you sleep an hour and wake an hour and do this all day, some days you just cat nap, some days its a mix. I can never tell, but Im ok with that. Different days bring different activities and for now, Ill follow your sleepy ques. You do go to bed at the same time pretty consistently though, which is nice. Maybe in a few more months your nap and sleep schedules will even out some more. We still arent ready to let you cry it out. And sometimes the lack of sleep is hard, but it's what we feel is best for you at the moment.
Youre still breastfeeding like a champ and I couldnt be happier! We havent started solids yet and I dont think either of us are quite ready yet. Around 6 months we will most likely try some variation of baby led solids. I havent decided for sure what we will do, but I do know for sure I dont want to even think about solids until youre at least 6 months. Maybe older. For now youre getting everything you need from me!
It seems like you might have a slight case of reflux so next month we may or may not try meds for it. The doctor already suggested it but I wanted to try ruling out any food irritants that Im eating first. So far I cant find a particular culprit so we might have to do meds. We had to move you back to your rock in play because it was causing you to wake up to nurse every hour to sooth the irritation.
We spent 2 weeks with Nana and Papa while daddy was in the thick of flight training this month and youve had the best time, but you miss daddy (and he REALLY misses you!).
Youre still swaddled for all naps and nighttime. Not sure what the heck we are going to do when you dont fit in this thing anymore! Ive even tried other swaddles. Youre not having it.
My heart bursts with my love for you on a daily basis. Sometimes it's tiring, hard work, but it's getting easier. God, you and your daddy are my whole world. I feel like youve always been there, always a part of me. It's the greatest honor and joy I could ever know watching you grow and learn. Knowing the relationship we are forming. Worrying that I will never be enough (because I am not enough, only your heavenly Father is). Hoping I teach you how to become a good, Godly woman in an nasty, unGodly world. Praying you'll always be safe. Praying I can become the kind of woman I hope you some day are. I wish for happiness and holiness for your life little one. I heard a song the other day that rang so true. It really encompassed motherhood and how I feel for you.
While God knits you into being
And I thrill each time you stir
I'll cradle you inside of me
Safe within my womb
Safe within my womb
When you stumble in your play
And skin your tender knees
I'll rock you on my breast
Safe within my arms
Safe within my arms
Let me hold you.
Let me hold you safe within my arms...
When far from home you wander
And many years have passed us by
Still I'll hold you precious baby
Safe within my prayers
Safe within my prayers
When you lay my body in the earth
With tears I cannot kiss away
I'll wait for you my little one
Safe within His love
Safe within His love
Let Him hold you...
Let Him hold you safe within his love.
